SAFES SPACES

Dne 21. 11. 2024 naši studenti oktávy v rámci výuky AJ a přípravy na maturitu navštívili mezinárodní charitativní interaktivní výstavu Safe Spaces International na podporu boje proti domácímu násilí v prostorách GRAM PRAGUE, Dudes and Barbies Gallery.

Jde o mezinárodní výstavu upozorňující na hluboce osobní příběhy žen, které přežily domácí násilí – fyzické i emocionální, psychické. Art Connect Society ACS) Art Connect Women SAFE SPACES PRAGUE je mezinárodní platforma pro umění, které si neklade za cíl pouze nastolit bolestná témata, ale vytvořit prostor pro léčení, solidaritu a naději. Každé vystavené dílo nese zásadní poselství: nejste sami. Výstava SAFE SPACES a performances jsou nejenom uměleckou prezentací, ale i aktem solidarity, který nám připomíná, že všechny ženy mají právo být v bezpečí – fyzicky, emocionálně i mentálně. Společně můžeme prolomit cyklus násilí a vzbudit naději na lepší budoucnost.
Výtěžek z prodeje uměleckých děl výstavy SAFE SPACES PRAGUE jde na podporu centra pro ženy Praha ROSA.
Kurátorkami výstavy jsou Valentine Svihalek, Bella Valentina Art, Kristína Kadáková, Andrea Ehret.

Studenti si dle vlastních slov z výstavy odnesli hluboké zážitky a dojmy, které následně zpracovali v recenzi v anglickém jazyce na následující hodině.
Následovala diskuze o tématu a aktuální situaci řešení domácího násilí v ČR i ve světě.

On 7th of November 2024 an opening ceremony of the “Safe Spaces project” about domestic violence took place at the GRAM event space on Záhřebská in Vinohrady. I had the opportunity to visit this exhibition with my English class one week later, and the experience truly surprised me.
Before coming to this exhibition, I felt a bit sceptic, and I might say even scared going there. I was afraid of my own memories rising up in my mind and causing trouble again. But when we arrived there, it very quickly became clear to me, that it really is a safe space. A big part for me about feeling this way was the choice of the space, the exhibition took place in. A big open space full of light and beautiful greenery. A space, that really made me feel safe.
The art pieces at the exhibition spoke to me in various ways. The first one that made an impact on me was the “Fallen Angel”. Even though it reminded me about how I felt in a time of my life, it didn’t make me experience those thoughts and memories again. Another pieces that really stood out to me were interactive pieces, in which I also had the chance to participate in, which made me feel a sense of closure. Another piece was a memorial of a woman that was brutally murdered by her husband. Standing there, opposite that piece, made me experience a very heavy feeling. That one really took my breath away.
The “Safe spaces project” exhibition is not only about looking at impressive art. It’s about looking at testimonies and being brave.
